What are we working on?

At Illinois Conservation Foundation, we believe that nature should be accessible to all. With your support, we're committed to making sure everyone, regardless of physical ability, can enjoy fishing, hunting, and the beauty of our Illinois State Parks. Here’s what we’re working on to make this vision a reality:

Building Accessible Fishing Piers

We’re collaborating with the team at William Powers State Park to construct an accessible fishing pier, ensuring that everyone can experience the joy of fishing, no matter their physical abilities.

Raising Funds for Accessible Hunting Blinds

Partnering with the Jared Burke Foundation, we’re raising funds to install accessible hunting blinds in each region of the state. Donate here to help make hunting more inclusive across Illinois.

Supporting Equine Therapy at Giant City State Park

We're contributing to the renovation of the stables at Giant City State Park, which are essential for equine therapy programs. These improvements will ensure that the therapeutic benefits of horseback riding are available to all who need them.

Upgrading Playgrounds Across Illinois

We’re dedicated to updating playground equipment in state parks throughout Illinois, encouraging kids and families to go play outside in safe, modern environments.

Preserving Historic Treasures

The Dana Thomas House in Springfield, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright in 1902, is a historic gem that needs new carpet. As the 72nd building designed by Wright, it features the largest collection of site-specific original Wright art glass and furniture. We’re helping preserve this architectural treasure for future generations.

Creating a Legacy of Conservation

We’re in the process of establishing a State Park Endowment Fund to ensure your contributions have a lasting impact. This fund will support the ongoing maintenance and enhancement of our state parks for generations to come.

Launching a Memorial Tree and Bench Program

Within the next year, we plan to introduce a State Park Memorial Tree and Bench Program. This initiative will allow you to honor a loved one by dedicating a bench or planting a tree in their memory. These lasting tributes will enhance the natural beauty of our state parks, creating serene spaces for reflection and remembrance.

Join us in making our state parks more accessible, beautiful, and inclusive for everyone. Together, we can ensure that everyone belongs in nature.
